Christmas morning has always meant more to me than twinkling lights, beautiful music, and family gathered around the table — though I absolutely adore all of those things. For me, Christmas is about returning to the heart of why this day exists at all: the birth of Jesus.
I know everyone celebrates this season in their own way, and everyone has their own beliefs. And that’s okay — truly. But if I’m being honest, my Christmas joy comes from something deeper. It comes from knowing that even though we are imperfect people living imperfect lives, God loved us enough to send His Son. Without that gift — without Jesus — I don’t believe we’d ever make our way into the kingdom of heaven. His birth is the beginning of every hope I cling to.
That hope is what keeps my whole life in balance. It guides me on the good days and steadies me on the hard ones. And every Christmas, I feel that same wave of peace rise up again. Sometimes it hits me unexpectedly — like when I hear Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. I’m telling you, that song hits my soul in a way nothing else does. Not because of nostalgia, but because the words remind me of the miracle we’re celebrating: God stepping into our world out of love.
And maybe that’s why Christmas feels so different from any other time of year. There’s this sense of kindness floating in the air, this gentle lifting of hearts. People smile more. They hope more. They forgive a little easier. Even if we’re rushing around wrapping last-minute gifts or trying not to burn the rolls — there’s just something sacred in the atmosphere.
I wish everyone could feel the joy and the peace that faith brings me, but I also respect that we all walk our own paths. No matter what someone believes, this season still has a way of softening us, reminding us that light wins over darkness, and nudging us toward compassion.
So on this Christmas Day, my prayer is simple:
That you feel love.
That you feel hope.
And that you feel the kind of joy that settles into your spirit and stays awhile.
