Today’s Foodie Friday is all about intentional freezer wins — meals you prep ahead of time so future-you is doing a happy dance instead of playing freezer roulette.

🥣 My Go-To Freezer Habit

Since it’s just the two of us at home, I almost always make too much when I cook soups, homemade sauces, or stews.

(And I know I’m not the only one!)

So now I have a simple system:

✅ Before we even sit down for dinner
✅ I portion out at least 2 extra servings
✅ Into clear containers I can see into
✅ Labeled with the NAME and the DATE

No surprises. No guessing games. No mystery meat moments.

Then on those nights when we don’t feel like cooking — or definitely don’t feel like going out — we can pop one of those meals into the microwave or oven and enjoy homemade goodness in minutes.

🥕 Easy Meals That Freeze Beautifully

If you’re looking to build your own “freezer win” stash, here are some great options:

  • Hearty soups (chicken vegetable, taco soup, chili)

  • Spaghetti sauce or meat sauce

  • Stews

  • Cooked shredded chicken

  • Breakfast burritos

  • Lasagna (portion it first!)

Pro tip: Flat freezer bags save space, but clear containers make it easier to see what you’ve got.

⚠️ Quick Kitchen Safety Tip

Learn from many of us who have learned the hard way…

👉 Never put a cold glass container into a preheated oven.

It will not turn out well — for you OR the container.

If you’re reheating from frozen:

  • Thaw in the fridge first, or

  • Use microwave/oven-safe containers designed for temperature changes

A little patience saves a lot of shattered glass. Trust me on this one.
