One of the Fastest Growing Cities in Texas
Back in 1984, when I first moved to Denton from Waco, I honestly don’t even remember hearing the word Frisco. Back then, Plano was still a “baby bump” compared to what North Texas would eventually become, and watching cities like Plano, Frisco, McKinney, and Prosper grow over the last 40 years has been pretty incredible.
Occasionally I meet people who think living in a suburb is boring — just house after house with no personality. And I’m not sure they really know North Texas.
Because the truth is, each city here has its own identity, its own rhythm, its own personality. They all weave together like a wonderful tapestry — full of opportunity, connection, and places where you can truly build the lifestyle you want.
That’s especially true in Frisco.
Fifteen years ago, Frisco was already growing quickly, but it still felt more like an up-and-coming suburb north of Dallas. Today, it has become one of the most talked about cities in Texas — a true destination for families, businesses, sports, entertainment, and investors alike.
A huge part of that growth came with the expansion of the Dallas North Tollway, which opened up easy access to Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, and the entire North Texas corridor. What once felt like “out there” suddenly became connected to everything.
Today, Frisco is home to major developments like The Star, the headquarters and training facility of the Dallas Cowboys, as well as the incredible PGA Frisco development. Sports fans also enjoy catching games with the Frisco RoughRiders or spending time at the Comerica Center for hockey, concerts, and year-round events.
And then there’s the food scene — which has completely transformed over the years. Longtime favorites like Babe's Chicken Dinner House and Hacienda Ranch helped put Frisco on the map early on, while newer spots continue to raise the bar. One of my personal favorites is EG Steak — a must-visit if you love a great steakhouse experience.
Frisco also has a vibrant and growing live music scene that a lot of people don’t always realize exists. My husband is actually playing tonight at a newer venue near the soccer fields, and it’s a perfect example of what Frisco has become — great food, live music, families out enjoying the evening, and a real sense of community without ever having to head into downtown Dallas.
From a real estate perspective, Frisco and the surrounding North Texas market continue to attract steady demand driven by strong schools, employment growth, and ongoing development. Even as the area expands, well-located homes and investment properties remain highly sought after.
I actually see this firsthand with clients.
Last November, I worked with a gentleman who found me through my Dave Ramsey referral page. He was calling from California and only had a few days in Texas with a clear goal — to purchase an investment property in North Texas.
We toured about 40 homes while he was here. He narrowed it down to three, we wrote offers, and he ultimately purchased one. Today, that property is already leased and producing income for him.
What stood out most wasn’t just the transaction — it was how focused he was. Even after seeing that many homes, he knew exactly what he wanted in terms of location, value, and long-term return. And like many out-of-state buyers, he quickly realized something important: the same level of value simply doesn’t exist in California markets anymore. By the end of his trip, he had also fallen in love with North Texas.
As a real estate agent, I’ve worked with families relocating from all over Texas and across the country, and one thing I truly value is the people I get to work with. Every client brings a different perspective, different priorities, and different goals. And if I’m honest, I probably learn just as much from them as they do from me. That’s one of the reasons I still love doing this after all these years.
Investors also continue to look at Frisco Texas real estate and the broader North Texas region because of its consistent demand, strong job growth, and ongoing expansion. Even now, new communities, entertainment districts, and commercial development continue pushing the region forward.
Frisco’s story still feels like it’s being written. And after watching North Texas grow for the last four decades, it’s exciting to see what comes next.
