Hidden Texas Towns Near Lake Conroe: Discover Plantersville, TX
Wine, music, and the weekend that changed everything
When people think about Texas, they usually picture cattle, barbecue, and wide-open spaces.
But wineries?
Texas actually has a thriving wine scene, and one of my favorite hidden gems sits just outside Montgomery in the small town of Plantersville.
And my connection to this town is actually pretty personal.
Several years ago, my husband’s band was playing at Bernhardt Winery. We decided to make a weekend out of it and booked an Airbnb nearby in Walden on Lake Conroe.
That weekend completely changed things for us.
If we hadn’t come down for that show at the winery, we probably never would have discovered the area the way we did… and we might never have moved here.
Funny how life — and real estate — works like that.
Sometimes it all starts with a weekend trip.
Why People Love Plantersville
Plantersville is one of those Texas towns that still feels authentic and relaxed.
It’s small, a little rural, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. But it’s also close to everything.
You’re only about:
• 20 minutes from Montgomery
• 30 minutes from Lake Conroe
• About an hour from Houston
That combination of quiet country living with access to larger cities is exactly what attracts many buyers to the area.
Wine Country… Texas Style
One of the things that surprises people most about this area is the local wine scene.
Bernhardt Winery has become a destination for visitors across the region. With hilltop views, live music, and tastings, it’s the kind of place where people come for an afternoon… and end up staying all evening.
And sometimes those visitors fall in love with the area.
(Trust me — I’ve seen it happen.)
Real Estate in Plantersville
For such a small town, Plantersville actually offers a wide variety of real estate options.
You’ll find:
• Country homes on acreage
• Custom homes with land
• Ranch properties
• Land ready to build
Many buyers looking around the Lake Conroe area love Plantersville because it offers more space, privacy, and a slower pace of life while still being close to Montgomery and Houston.

A Town Worth Discovering
Plantersville isn’t flashy.
It’s not trying to be the next big city.
But that’s exactly why people love it.
It’s the kind of place where weekends include live music at the winery, country drives, and a slower pace of life.
And sometimes, like in our case, a simple weekend trip turns into something much bigger.
