The Texas Pledge of Allegiance is: "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible"
There’s an old Texas bumper sticker that says, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” And let me tell you—those words couldn’t ring truer for me.
I may not have been born here, but Texas quickly became home in every sense of the word. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms, sweet tea, and that unmistakable Texas spirit.
This past week, as floods and storms swept across our great state, I was once again reminded of what makes Texas so special: its people. When adversity strikes, Texans don’t hesitate. We step up, we show up, and we take care of each other—whether we’ve lived here for generations or just pulled into town.
Neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers becoming family. Volunteers wading through water to rescue pets, deliver meals, or just lend a hand and a kind word. That’s the Texas I know and love.
We may be spread across miles of open land, city skylines, small towns, and winding backroads—but we’re united by pride, grit, and a deep sense of community.
Texas isn’t just a place on the map. It’s a mindset. A way of life. And no matter where you came from, once you get here, you’re part of something bigger. Something bolder.
So, to everyone who's been affected by the recent storms, please know you’re not alone. If there's anything I can do to help, reach out. Texans don’t let Texans face tough times alone.
And to all of us who call this state home—whether by birth or by heart—let’s keep showing the world what it means to be a Texan.
