Back in 1979, when my family moved to Texas, our first stop was Waco. Coming from Frankfort, Kentucky, it was a big change—the water tasted horrible (don’t worry, it’s much better now!) and the bugs looked like they could have their own zip codes. But even with those first impressions, I grew to love this town. So much so, I chose to attend Baylor University—and now two family members have graduated from Baylor, with another (Go Seth!) about to start Baylor Law School.

Even though I’ve since lived in other amazing Texas cities, Waco is still the place we return to at least once a year. Why? Because it’s not too big, not too small—just right.
